Aloe Vera Gel

Generally, the expression aloe gel is frequently also used as aloe juice, or vice versa. Aloe vera gel usually means a clear, mucilaginous gel extracted from the inner leaf parenchyma of aloe vera. It contains polysaccharides (e.g., acemannan), vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

Aloe vera is a popular plant known for its health and skincare benefits. However, there is often confusion between aloe juice and aloe gel, as they come from the same plant but serve different purposes.

Aloe gel is the traditional way to offer the Aloe juice. In some countries, aloe gel is called gelled aloe or just Aloe gel, but in most countries and markets, it is called Aloe juice. If it is made from the aloe vera variety, it is called aloe vera juice, or aloe barbadensis miller juice.

However, at some countries the aloe gel is the thick, translucent substance extracted from the inner part of the aloe vera leaf (the parenchyma). It is rich in water, vitamins, minerals, and polysaccharides.

Instead, the aloe juice is a juice made by crushing or grinding the entire aloe leaf (including the outer green rind) or by diluting the inner gel. It is then filtered to remove latex (which contains aloin, a laxative compound).

In fact, Aloe gel is not an identical product to aloe juice. However, in cosmetic manufacturing, aloe gel is an aloe juice with any thickener, as carbomer for instance.
